Write for Scratch Projects
Submission Guidelines
Your audience will be programmers and developers of all skill levels. When you decide that you would like to write for us, use the information below to simplify the process.
Formatting Articles
When writing an article, you don't need to worry about HTML formatting as we will reformat each article to fit in with the rest of the site. Generally, short paragraphs work best for the web, and you should try to divide your article into sections. You may include snippets of code and images within your article. The final article may be in HTML format, OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or plain text. If you would like to use another format, please contact us in advance to confirm that we can work with your desired format.
Artwork/Screenshots
You may include artwork and screenshots within your article. For images low in colors, we generally prefer PNG files (for graphs, graphical text, etc). Photograph quality images should be saved in JPG format, or PNG if you prefer.
Submitting an Article
Submitting an article is an easy process. If your article consists of several files (text portion and images), you'll need to zip up all the files into one file using a program such as Winzip. If your article is a single text file or HTML file, you can submit it as is.
Send all submissions as an email attachment to:
What Happens Next
You should receive a response confirming that we received the article within one week. If you do not receive confirmation, feel free to resend it or follow up; in these days of rampant spam, there's always a chance it got filtered out.
After we have received your article, one or more members of Scratch Projects review it for technical correctness and relevance to our audience. If your article is not accepted, we may send you feedback allowing you to make changes and resubmit.
Compensation
As of August 15, 2007, you have a variety of compensation options. You can either participate in our Adsense sharing program, or donate your submission.
If you choose to take part in our Adsense sharing program, you'll have the option of giving us your Google Adsense ID. Your ID will be displayed in any articles you have submitted 50% of the time. If you do not have a Google Adsense account, you can create one by clicking the link below. Be sure to read the to get a better understanding of how this program works.
